KERRY ANTHONY COLLINS

Born: 31 July 1962

selfKerry Collins was first introduced to the world of art via an intense love for comic books. He constantly drew the various characters such as "Spider Man", " Daredevi", "X-men", "The Hulk" and the like. Constant drawing led to an improvement in his skilsl, which prompted his father to purchase Kerry's first oil painting set in December 1974 . This introduction to oils was love at first sight. He liked the texture and effect that oils possessed so much that he began painting excessively thereafter, copying various paintings which he saw in art books. He also produced a lot of original still life and portraits, which still tend to be a personal favourite.

Kerry Collins attended Hillview College from 1974- 1981 and much of his spare time was spent painting and studying various techniques in oils. Unfortunately, much of his early works were given away and he says "unfortunately" because in some respect they he calls them his greatest work since they were done with such passion and instinctive flair, they represent an era that he feels he can never reproduce.

After he left Hillview, he took one art course at U.W.I. Extra Mural where he learned the basics. Apart from that, he has pursued his own studies using books, magazines and the Internet and is now poised to offer the local art community his own interpretation of art.

Kerry has a love for the impressionists' perspective and admires great masters such as Monet, Rembrandt, Da Vinci and Renoir. He now paints by far more frequently than at any other time in his career and has noticed that his work is evolving right before his eyes. His greatest dream is to offer the world of local art something that it has never quite seen before: something rare and beautiful. ART to him means primarily BEAUTY.

In 2001, Kerry joined the Trinidad Art Society (now Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago) where one of his pieces, a still life, was exhibited. In 2002, his work was featured in a group exhibition hosted by the P.A.C. (Private Art Collection) held at Long Circular Mall where four of his paintings were sold. In 2003, he again participated in a group exhibition hosted by the P.A.C. at Long Circular Mall where he sold four landscapes.

In November of 2003 and 2005 two of his paintings were selected for showing in the Art Society's annual November exhibition.
